Grants: - This facility is termed as the scholarship which is awarded to the students for excellence in various fields like studies, sports, leadership qualities, ethnic minorities etc. You do not have to repay the amount since it is an award which might take care of the entire educational fees or make partial payment for your further studies. 

Work Study Programs: - In this option you can work and pay for your further studies. There are lots of schools that help the students to find a good job and pay for their education. This financial aid is termed as self-help aid which gives you experience of work for future jobs.

You must read the entire catalogue in order to qualify for the financial assistance. You must fill up the application form issued by United States Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid. These forms are available in almost all the schools but you might want to fill it online which is also possible nowadays. 

You further need to gather all your documents related to identity proof and income records like tax papers, bank statements etc. You then need to proofread your application and submit it with all other documents mentioned in the official website. Government will then decide on your application form and provide you with financial aid.

Government considers the financial status of the family and then decides to give the aid to the respective students. The basic principle behind financial aids is to borrow money when you need for educational purpose and later repay it when you start earning.
